Minh Hien is very admirable to spent so much time and effort to write her book. Congratulations to her and every success in her career.

My Heritage have brought back many memories from my childhood, the stories I've heard from my parents and grandmother. The cruelty of Japanese soldier's grandfather's life threatened by Viet Minh, and his family exodus from the North to South, most of all the heartache and hardship my mother, my grandmother had endured through it all. Thank you Minh Hien for candidly sharing your history without prejudice or judgement, you've reminded me of the beauty and endurance of the country of my birth through lyrical poetry, mouth watering cuisines, folk lore, and the grace of Vietnamese couture. I'm in debt to you for a piece of literature that I'm proud to pass on to my children.

A memoir about growing up in Vietnam - rich with fascinating detail of a most extraordinary culture My Heritage by Minh Hien. I worked on her ms a few years back and it is wonderful to see it finished.

I find My Heritage a poignant and moving account of an extended family and their struggle to retain dignity through unimaginable circumstances. We read a story of Vietnam through family life, food, geography and recent history. We can begin to comprehend the values and culture of the society presented without judgement or political bias. It is an important book for us all if we are to understand the world and plight of displaced people right now!

Wonderfully written family history encapsulating family values culture and history. A valuable asset for family to know where they came from and who they are. For others it is a historical account of the times that led to the events up to and following the Vietnam War which influenced the family. Written in great detail, factually and emotionally.

This is a unique blend of a poetic dreamlike style with real history and political events. A warm sense of love and harmony pervades despite the accounts of wars and the tension leading up to what the West knows as the "Vietnam War". The author is good with details; they are varied, rich and colourful, particularly when she describes the wonderful smells, tastes, and scenery of her country.
